Is cashmere really sustainable?

Cashmere is a precious yarn, a symbol of high fashion, luxury and elegance, which has always been considered a sustainable garment.
In recent years, it has become a yarn that can be purchased in fast fashion, with significantly lower prices and quality, generating an exponential sales boom.
This has caused alterations in its production process: intensive farms were born where goats are held captive and are combed more often, to collect more fiber; shepherds, who normally follow the cattle in their movements, are forced to look for more efficient solutions. As a result, its impact on the planet has become extremely important.
How can we be sure that we are buying high quality, sustainable Cashmere?
Abandoning the logic of fast fashion and relying on companies whose foundations are traceability is the first step in buying not only sustainable cashmere, but also excellent quality cashmere, made to last over time.

All our garments are made with traceable and certified yarns because we firmly believe that consumers have the right to know the product, how it is made and where it comes from, to protect the health of customers and suppliers themselves and to safeguard the natural environment.

Our approach to sustainability takes the form of two fundamental actions.

The choice of suppliers and raw materials.

For seventy years, we have been selecting the best suppliers of raw materials and the best yarns to guarantee traceability, from the farm to the consumer, and maximum resistance and durability over time.
Our natural raw materials derive from renewable, biodegradable, recyclable and non-toxic sources; We buy greasy wool directly, and the combing, dyeing and spinning processes are carried out exclusively in Italy, respecting the environment, avoiding waste of water, which is only used to humidify the spinning environment and the yarn itself.
Origin, traceability and compliance with Textile and Health and TF standards are guaranteed and documented.

The use of a 4.0 Technology.

The support of new technologies allows us to considerably reduce our environmental impact.
How?

• Thanks to the installation of solar panels, we self-produce 50% of the energy we consume, and by 2023 we will achieve full energy independence.
• We use energy-efficient washing machines, weaving and fulling machines, drastically reducing the use of water and washing materials.
• Thanks to advanced condensate recovery systems, we recover and reuse the steam produced during ironing, which otherwise would be lost.
• We only use LED lights.
• Using new technologies, we also reduce the environmental impact in customer management: communications become increasingly effective, journeys with couriers are drastically reduced, deliveries are speeded up and waste is reduced to a minimum.

We embarked on this important path towards sustainability several years ago, regardless of market demands; at the time it was not a necessity, today things have changed a lot and we are ready.
